The Democratic Worker-Owned Firm

Front-cover-English-upright.CVMy second book was the 1989 The Democratic Worker-Owned Firm. The book was revised for the Chinese translation. This book develops the labor theory of property and democratic theory arguments for a democratic firm, although in less detail and without the intellectual history of my later 1992 book Property and Contract in Economics: The Case for Economic Democracy.  Instead this book goes into detail about the connection between those principles and the structure of the democratic firm. It also analyzes various existing versions of what are generally called “worker-owned” or “labor-managed” firms as well as some hybrid forms.
